Prescribe a book. Change a future.
A reading prescription promotes healthy child development.
The American Association of Pediatrics says literacy promotion during preventive visits can make a difference in the lives of young children and families. You can help ensure every Legacy patient from six months to five years who visits us for a Well-Child checkup goes home with a book. And most children see their pediatrician at least ten times between this age range. With your support, Legacy can help families develop their children’s minds and strengthen the emotional connection between parent and child.
Prescribe a book and make a major difference in a child’s future!
Sixty percent of Houston’s children don’t have the reading readiness skills needed upon entering kindergarten, and reading proficiency by the end of third grade is a crucial marker in a child’s educational development. With your help, parents and Legacy will make long-term changes in the lives of their youngest patients and open worlds of possibilities only hoped for without your help!
